Frequently asked questions about the IGA flyer

Does IGA take part in Scene+?

Rewards Canada reported that IGA and other Empire stores in Quebec and New Brunswick moved from AIR MILES to Scene+ on 23 March 2023. Confirm the current terms in the Scene+ app.

When does the IGA Flyer start?

The editions listed on AdsSOS run Thursday to Wednesday, for example 22 October to 28 October 2026. No official release hour was available to us.

Are IGA stores independently owned?

Wikipedia describes IGA as a group of independent grocers supplied by Sobeys, so policies and hours can differ between stores.

IGA Flyer This Week: publication rhythm and schedule

IGA is mainly a Quebec grocery banner, so its weekly Flyer is also called a circulaire in French. The latest IGA edition on AdsSOS has 15 pages and is valid from 22 October to 28 October 2026. The one before it had 17 pages and ran from 15 October to 21 October 2026. Both run Thursday to Wednesday, so editions listed on AdsSOS usually start on a Thursday. A third-party Flyer site also showed a Thursday-to-Wednesday cycle for an IGA Extra edition in July 2026, which fits our data, but we could not open the official IGA site because it returned an access error, so we have no official statement of the release day or hour.

Flyer content can vary by region because IGA stores are independently operated, and the version for your area is selected by your postal code or store, so check that the edition you are viewing matches your store.

How to save: loyalty card and app

IGA participates in Scene+. Rewards Canada reported that Empire Company stores in Quebec and New Brunswick, including IGA and Sobeys, switched from AIR MILES to Scene+ on 23 March 2023. According to that report there is no base earn rate on groceries. Points come from selected items, from bonus offers for spending a set amount that are usually advertised in the Flyer, and from personalized offers. Most Scotiabank credit cards offered accelerated earning of up to six points in the program at that time. A basket without participating items may therefore earn little, so read each Flyer offer closely.

Program rules and card benefits may have changed since 2023, so confirm current terms in the Scene+ app.

Price matching, returns and coupon rules

We could not find a published price-match, return or coupon policy for IGA because the official site was not accessible. We therefore state no rule. Since IGA stores are independently operated, policies can differ from one store to another. Ask the store before relying on a competitor's Flyer, and keep your receipt for fresh food you might need to return.

Wikipedia describes IGA as a group of independent grocers supplied by Sobeys, with Sobeys franchising the name from IGA, Inc., which supports the idea that practices are set locally.

Smart shopping: hours and markdown habits

Opening hours differ by store and we did not verify a banner-wide schedule. In Quebec, commercial opening hours are governed by the provincial Act respecting hours and days of admission to commercial establishments, available on the Legisquebec site, and holiday closures for grocery stores are set by that legislation and its regulations. Because we could not open the current consolidated text, we do not list closing days. Check your store's page, especially around 25 December and 1 January. We found no official statement about markdown or clearance practices.

For comparison, the Jean Coutu Flyer this week covers the Quebec pharmacy chain, which is useful for health and beauty items not stocked in depth at a grocer, and the Walmart Flyer this week is a general merchandise reference.

About IGA in Canada

Wikipedia says IGA operates mainly in Quebec after Sobeys acquired the banner through its purchase of the Oshawa Group. IGA operations in Atlantic Canada were sold to Loblaw and restructured, with the exception of IGA-Co-op stores in Edmundston, Shediac and Dieppe, New Brunswick. West of Quebec, company-owned stores mostly operate under the Sobeys name, while many independent IGA stores remain in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, and most British Columbia IGA stores are independently owned by Georgia Main Food Group.

The larger IGA Extra format carries more general merchandise and, per Wikipedia, includes a pharmacy, bakery, bank, bistro and post office. Smaller Quebec banners include Bonichoix and Tradition. Empire Company Limited, owner of Sobeys, lists IGA among its banners. Compare IGA with other grocers in the Canada supermarkets Flyer hub, or browse the Canada Flyer this week hub.
