Two very different things under one roof

Let us be honest about this hub: it is a slightly odd pairing. On one side sit the beauty brands that live in a brochure, Oriflame catalogues and AVON brochures. On the other sits an optician, Specsavers offers, which has shopfronts on the high street and a very different idea of what a leaflet is for. We keep them together because shoppers search for them in the same breath, usually with the word offers attached, but they behave nothing alike.

The brochure brands are built around a printed or PDF book that runs for a few weeks. Oriflame was founded in Sweden in 1967 and, in the UK, trades online and through direct selling only, so there is no shop to pop into. AVON is the same sort of animal: monthly brochures, a homepage that was advertising free standard delivery above a minimum spend in October 2026, and an owner that changed at the very end of last year, when Avon International passed to Regent LP on 31 December 2025.

How people actually use these leaflets

Look at what people type into Google and the pattern is plain. For the beauty brands it is almost entirely about the document itself: "oriflame catalogue this month", "oriflame catalogue pdf", "avon brochure uk", "avon christmas catalogue". Nobody is asking where the nearest branch is, because there is not one. They want the current book, and they want it without logging into anything.

That is why our weekly scans exist. Oriflame editions tend to start on a Tuesday in our data, whereas AVON runs on a monthly rhythm with no typical weekday, so there is little point refreshing the page on a Wednesday and expecting something new.

For Specsavers the searches are different again: "specsavers offers on glasses", "specsavers offers free eye test", "specsavers offers 2 for 1". People want to know whether a promotion exists right now and what it covers. A promotion is a moving target, so read the terms on the leaflet itself rather than trusting a search snippet.

The differences that matter before you order or book

The legal backdrop, in plain English

Government guidance says that for orders made online, by phone or by mail, a customer who tells the seller within 14 days of receiving an item that they want to cancel is entitled to a refund, and traders must also offer a refund for goods that are faulty, not as described or do not do what they should. Oxfordshire trading standards points to a fixed 30 day period in which faulty goods can be rejected. Useful to know the floor.

Opticians, the NHS and the idea of a free test

The phrase "free eye test" in a Specsavers promotion deserves a second look. The NHS page on free eye tests lists eligible groups, including under-16s, people aged 60 or over, and people with diabetes or glaucoma, so for some people the test was never going to cost anything, offer or no offer. If you are in one of those groups, the useful part of any leaflet is whatever it says about frames and lenses, not the test. It is worth five minutes on that page before you book.

Opening hours are another thing people check, with queries such as "are opticians open on a sunday" turning up in suggestions. Under the Sunday Trading Act, large shops in England and Wales, those over 280 square metres, may open for only six consecutive hours between 10am and 6pm on a Sunday. Scotland has no such limit, and large shops in Northern Ireland can open for up to five hours between 1pm and 6pm. In practice, hours vary by branch, so phone or check the branch page before making the trip.

Timing and seasonality

Brochure brands lean hard on the calendar. The searches for an AVON Christmas catalogue show how early people start planning gifts, and a beauty brochure published in autumn is largely written with the festive season in mind.

Practical ways to get more out of the leaflets

What to take away

Treat the two halves of this hub as separate shopping trips and you will not go far wrong. The rest of the United Kingdom leaflet hub is a click away.
