Frequently asked questions about the Midas catalogue

When does the new Midas catalogue start?

The current Midas catalogue is valid from 1 October 2026 until 31 October 2026.

How many pages does the current Midas catalogue have?

The current edition has 4 pages.

What are the Midas specials this week?

The listed Midas specials catalogue is a four-page edition valid 1 to 31 October 2026, so it covers the whole month. Product tags point to car care items, tools, lights, oil and brake pads.

Is Midas open on Sundays?

We could not read an official policy. Third-party directory entries suggest branch hours differ, and franchise owners decide, so phone your branch.

What is the Midas return policy?

We found no readable official policy. Under section 56 of the Consumer Protection Act, defective goods can be returned within six months for repair, replacement or refund.

Does Midas accept Payflex or Pay Just Now?

We could not verify any payment partner. Ask at the till, as franchised stores may differ.

How many Midas stores are there in South Africa?

A 2019 TimesLIVE feature said up to 300 stores, about 260 franchised, and a 2024 regional article said more than 300 nationwide.

Is the South African Midas the same as the American Midas?

Wikipedia's Midas page points to a separate article for the South African chain and does not say they are related, so treat them as different businesses.

Midas specials this month: the October catalogue

Midas, the South African motor-parts chain, has a four-page specials catalogue listed here, valid for the whole of October 2026 (1 to 31 October). That is a monthly rhythm, not a weekly one, so you are not racing a Thursday deadline. The product tags on the catalogue pages point to the sort of things a driver tops up on: car fragrance, degreaser, soap, USB chargers, sockets and socket sets, booster cables, lights, oil and brake pads. We read tags only, so we cannot say what any item costs or how it is bundled. The edition began on a Thursday, but our feed has no established weekday pattern for Midas, so do not read too much into that.

If you landed here after searching "midas specials this week" or "midas specials catalogue pdf", the quick answer is that the catalogue is this one, and it runs to month end. When 1 November rolls round, a new edition is the thing to look for.

Which Midas is this? Not the American tyre-and-brakes chain

Searching for Midas can send you to the wrong company. Wikipedia's page on the international Midas auto-service brand carries a note pointing readers to a separate article for the South African parts chain, and says that brand is now owned by Mavis Tire Express Services (since June 2025), with Mobivia controlling it in Europe. Nothing we read links that group to the South African stores, so treat them as distinct.

The South African chain describes itself, through a 2019 TimesLIVE feature, as an "auto-supermarket" concept that dates from 1983, with about 300 stores in South Africa and its neighbours. Around 30 were company-owned and 260 run by franchisees, with roughly 30 outlets outside the country in places such as Namibia, Botswana and Mozambique. A May 2024 article in Afrikaans from a Riversdal opening repeated the figure of more than 300 stores and called Midas the leader in motor parts. It also said the first store opened in Mossel Bay in 1993, which is a different year from the 1983 concept date, so we give both and say which source says what.

What a Midas branch stocks

According to TimesLIVE, the core is hard parts that keep a car running, including for vehicles under manufacturer warranty, plus accessories such as light bars, seat covers and USB outlets. The Riversdal piece adds brake, service, engine rebuild and panel components, towing items such as couplers and mudflaps, and power tools. Ranges differ from one franchise to the next, though, so phone with the part number or registration details before you drive across town.

Midas does not appear to be a supermarket or a DIY store, which is why we recommend using the closest hub below and not pretending it fits neatly with grocers.

Midas opening hours, Sundays and public holidays

A heap of searches here are about trading hours: "midas opening hours sunday", "does midas open on sunday" and "is midas open on public holidays". Midas's own site returned an access error when we tried it, so we cannot quote its policy. Third-party directory entries we saw suggest that hours differ from branch to branch: some listings show a Saturday afternoon close, and some a half-day on Sunday and others none. Those listings dated mostly from 2015 and 2016 and are not reliable, so please call the specific shop.

On public holidays, the retail sectoral determination says an employer may not require an employee to work a public holiday unless the employee agrees. Franchise owners decide how to respond, so a holiday opening is a local matter.

Payment questions: Payflex, Pay Just Now, store cards

The suggestion list shows people asking "does midas accept payflex", "does midas take pay just now" and "does midas accept rcs cards". We could not verify any payment partner, and we would not guess. Because stores are franchised, payment methods may vary too. Ask at the till before filling the boot.

Midas return policy and your rights

No official Midas return policy was readable for us. What exists for any parts buyer is the Consumer Protection Act. Section 56 allows return of defective or unfit goods within six months at the supplier's risk, with a choice of repair, replacement or refund. It is not a general change-of-mind right. A July 2026 EWN article quotes consumer journalist Wendy Knowler saying that a shop's internal policy cannot override these rights for faulty goods. Keep your slip, and ask for the part to be fitted by someone qualified if the warranty depends on it.

Other catalogues to check on the same trip

Midas is a parts shop, so pair it with the groceries. The Pick n Pay weekly specials, the Shoprite catalogue this week and the Checkers weekly offers are all listed.
