How does the wafa loyalty programme work?

A February 2025 guide says sign-up is free with a mobile number at the cash counter, 100 points equal AED 1, and membership goes dormant after over two years of non-use. Confirm with the store.

What are Aswaaq opening hours?

The February 2025 guide shows some Dubai branches open 24 hours and others 7 AM to midnight or 1 AM. Check your branch for current times.

The guide says orders can be placed through Talabat, InstaShop, El Grocer and Now Now; it describes no Aswaaq-run service.

What is Aswaaq's return policy?

No store policy was found. Federal consumer law allows refund, replacement or repair for defective goods.

Aswaaq in Dubai: a community supermarket with a new owner

Aswaaq began as a Dubai Government project. A 2013 Khaleej Times article, updated in 2015, called it a subsidiary of the Investment Corporation of Dubai and says the first branch opened in Nad Al Hamar in October 2008, with the centres formally opened in Al Mizhar in May 2009. In February 2023 a trade report said GMG, a UAE family-owned conglomerate, bought aswaaq LLC from the Investment Corporation of Dubai, adding 11 community malls and 22 supermarkets to its portfolio. GMG had already taken over the UAE Geant operations in April 2022, so the two food retailers now sit in the same group.

That ownership change is the single most useful fact for a shopper: the supermarkets are still locally rooted, but the group behind them is now a larger food retailer. We saw no statement about private labels, so we leave them out.

Aswaaq promotion leaflet this week: two kinds of edition

The editions on AdsSOS fall into two groups. The long catalogue runs about ten days: Unmissable Deals On Your Essentials was valid from 21 September to 1 October 2026 over 20 pages, and Save More With Home Essentials from 2 to 11 October over 24 pages. Beside it sits the Weekend Surprise, a single page valid on a Saturday and Sunday, seen on 3 to 4 October and again on 17 to 18 October. A one-day Weekend Offer also appeared on 20 September.

No release day is stated officially and our data gives no typical weekday, so read the dates on each page. The catalogue can still be valid while a weekend page lands on top of it.

The live edition is on the Aswaaq promotion leaflet this week page, and shoppers who like to compare often open Day to Day offers this week and Carrefour UAE offers next to it.

Wafa: how the aswaaq loyalty scheme works

The scheme is called wafa, and GMG said at the time of the takeover that it would stay an important platform for customers. A February 2025 Property Finder guide adds the mechanics: sign-up is free, you give your mobile number at the cash counter, 100 wafa points equal AED 1, and membership never expires outright but turns dormant after more than two consecutive years without use. An older 2018 magazine item described a mobile-number scheme with cash back; because that is dated, we do not repeat its percentage. Ask the cashier how many points your basket earned and whether leaflet items count in full.

Aswaaq opening hours and branches

The Property Finder guide, dated February 2025, groups the Dubai stores by hours. Al Barsha South, Umm Suqeim and Al Warqa are shown as open 24 hours. Al Mizhar, Nad Al Hamar, Al Sufouh, Al Qouz, Waterfront and Nad Al Sheba are shown from 7 AM to midnight, as are several smaller Aswaaq Mart sites such as The Greens, Hatta and Jumeirah Village Circle, with a few of those mart branches open until 1 AM. Hours change, and the guide itself says to check, so for Ramadan, Eid and public holidays phone the branch or the contact line the guide gives, 800-279-227.

Search suggestions for the brand are mostly place names: Mizhar, Al Warqa, Al Quoz, Barsha South, Nad Al Sheba and JVC. That matches the community-centre model, where each store serves its own neighbourhood.

Delivery and online orders

The same guide says online orders are available through partner apps, naming Talabat, InstaShop, El Grocer and Now Now. It does not describe an Aswaaq-run delivery service, fees or minimums, so check those inside the app you use.

Returns and consumer protection

We found no Aswaaq-specific return policy. Under Federal Law No. 15 of 2020, as amended in 2023, a legal summary says a shopper may seek refund, replacement or repair for defective goods and that notices refusing every return or exchange are not enforceable, apart from custom or perishable items. For a dispute the store cannot settle, the Ministry of Economy publishes a unified number, 800 1222.
