Provigo Flyer This Week

Is Provigo owned by Loblaw? The short story behind the sign

It is one of the most typed questions about the banner, together with "provigo is loblaws" and "does provigo still exist". Yes, it exists, and yes, Loblaw is behind it. Wikipedia traces Provigo to 1969, when it started as Couvrette & Provost, and says it was renamed Provigo in 1970. Loblaw Companies bought it in 1998, ending decades of Quebec ownership, and the same article puts the chain at more than 300 stores and franchises in the province. Its slogan, "Si vite, si bon!", is pure Quebec advertising.

Store ownership is mixed. A Hardlines report from December 2020 said Loblaw owned 22 of the 84 Provigo stores at that moment, and that it was offering those to franchisees at a flat $50,000 each. Narcity reported the same plan, adding that the agreements run ten years and that profits are shared between franchisee and Loblaw. So the owner-operator behind your local Provigo may be a neighbour, which is why some stores carry a person's name on the sign. Wikipedia also mentions a Provigo Le Marché format launched in 2013 in Sherbrooke, and conversion of 20 stores to the cheaper Maxi banner from early 2023.

The Provigo flyer, week by week

People search "provigo flyer montreal", "provigo flyer kirkland" and "provigo flyer aylmer", which tells you the circulaire feels local. Our latest edition covers October 22 to October 28, 2026 (12 pages), and the one before it covers October 15 to October 21, 2026 (10 pages). Both start on a Thursday. That is only two data points, so we describe it as a pattern we see rather than a promise, and we did not find an official release time. See the scan itself on our Provigo weekly flyer this week page.

The same banner family is covered next door: the Maxi weekly flyer for the discount side, and the Canada supermarket flyers hub for everyone else in grocery.

Provigo and PC Optimum

A Milesopedia guide lists Provigo among the places where PC Optimum members can earn and redeem points in Quebec, alongside Maxi, Shoppers Drug Mart and Joe Fresh. Per Wikipedia, the programme began on February 1, 2018; 1,000 points are worth one dollar; you redeem in multiples of 10,000; and points do not cover gift cards, alcohol, tobacco, lottery tickets or prescription medication. The guide says online grocery orders through PC Express can also earn points, but it does not confirm that for Provigo specifically, so check pcoptimum.ca before ordering.

Wikipedia adds that PC Express click and collect is among the services of the banner, with a dietitian, dry cleaning, Joe Fresh, optical and pharmacy at select stores only. Searches like "does provigo have a pharmacy" and "provigo pharmacy aylmer" are really asking whether your particular store has one.

Provigo price match and returns

"Provigo price match" and "does provigo price match" get asked, but they have no official answer we could find. The matching promise belongs to Maxi, and a search of Quebec retail coverage turned up only Maxi, not Provigo, so please do not assume the "Imbattable" rule applies here. Spring Financial's roundup of Canadian price-match stores does not address Provigo either. If it matters for a big shop, ask the manager. We also found no published returns policy for the banner. Keep your receipt and take the product back to the store you bought it in.

Provigo hours, Canada Day and other closed days

The suggestion list is full of "provigo hours today", "is provigo open on canada day" and "is provigo open on labour day". Hours are set by each store, so the store locator is the final word. The legal background comes from the Retail Council of Canada: most Quebec retailers may not open on New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day, Canada Day, Labour Day or Christmas Day. A pilot running since October 2, 2025 lets voluntary merchants in Gatineau, Laval and Saint-Georges keep weekend hours until 8 p.m., though statutory holidays are excluded. Do not expect a Provigo open on the closed days unless an exemption applies to it.

Gift cards, alcohol and other everyday questions

Shoppers also ask whether Provigo sells gift cards, wine, flowers or accepts Amex. We could not verify any of that on an official page, so we are not going to answer for them. A fair rule: look at the departments listed for your own store on provigo.ca. If your errand is mostly pharmacy or beauty, the Canada health and beauty flyers group may help, and the Canada flyers hub lists the rest. For shopping a bigger list on a budget, the No Frills weekly flyer is another Loblaw discount comparison.
