What counts as a hypermarket in Qatar

In Qatar the word covers a wide range. At one end sit the big grocery-and-general-goods boxes such as Lulu hypermarket offers, Carrefour Qatar offers and the listed local operator Al Meera Hypermarket. At the other end are neighbourhood-scale stores that simply use the name, among them Mark & Save, with three outlets according to Gulf Times coverage in August 2026. This page groups the Qatari retailers on AdsSOS that publish a weekly offers leaflet under that label. It mixes formats on purpose: SPAR Qatar offers is catalogued by us as a supermarket, yet shoppers compare it with the same leaflets, so it sits here too. For the wider picture, start from the Qatar offers overview.

How the leaflets are used

Searches for this group are short and local. People type the chain name plus the word offers, add "today", and sometimes a district such as Muaither, Abu Hamour or Markhiya. Few ask for a national price ranking, so the practical habit is to open two or three leaflets for the same week and compare the staples you actually buy. Editions listed here do not share one weekday. Those we track for Carrefour Qatar usually start on a Wednesday, Grand Hypermarket and Rawabi Market on a Monday, and Bin Dawood and Aswaq Ramez on a Thursday. That staggering lets you plan a shop around whichever leaflet has just turned over.

The main operators compared

Large chains with loyalty programmes

Lulu runs the Happiness programme, which it said had passed one million Qatar members by June 2026. Al Meera offers the Meera Rewards app with a digital membership ID, a family account and bank-point conversion. Family Food Centre, trading since 1978 according to The Peninsula, uses Family Club Points and a Family Qatar app. The Saudia group, whose Kenz Hypermarket and Saudia stores trace back to Shafi Street in New Rayyan, launched Fayda+ Rewards in 2019.

Mid-sized local groups

Regency Hypermarket describes itself as a retail pioneer since 2010 with a head office on Central Market Road in Abu Hamour, and says an online shopping experience is coming. Paris Hypermarket belongs to Paris Group and opened its Muntaza branch in February 2022. Souq Al Baladi is owned by Al Baladi Holding Group and has a Baladi Express app. Masskar Hypermarket is mall-based, at Al Wathnan Mall in Muaither and Waddan Mall in Mesaieed.

Newer or smaller names

Nesto Hypermarket opened its first Qatar store in Al Gharafa on 19 August 2026 and has eight more planned. Bin Dawood announced its first Qatar store in February 2026 under a franchise with Regional Group Company. Food Palace says on its own site that its branches open from 7 am to 1 am and that leaflet orders can go to the nearest branch by WhatsApp. Retail Mart and Mark & Save both run spend-and-win coupon campaigns, which is a different kind of incentive from a points card.

Friday prayer, 24-hour branches and Ramadan

Opening hours are the most reliable local rule. Decision No. 80 of 2025 from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, effective 18 August 2025, orders most commercial establishments to close for one and a half hours from the first call to prayer on Fridays. Reported exemptions include pharmacies, hospitals, hotels, fuel stations, bakeries, airport outlets and businesses on continuous shift systems. So a leaflet running through Friday does not mean a store is open through midday. Late-night shopping is a separate matter: in February 2026 the ministry raised the number of 24-hour outlets from 22 to 33, naming Lulu, Al Meera and Carrefour branches. Check the branch before relying on those lists.

For Ramadan, the clearest documented precedent is 2019, when the ministry let malls, supermarkets and hypermarkets extend hours up to 24 a day without prior approval, provided they told shoppers their schedule. We did not find an equivalent circular for the next Ramadan, so read the hours printed in each leaflet.

Practical ways to save

Use the validity dates on the leaflet rather than the day you happen to see it. If you shop at a chain with an app, check the app as well, since the leaflet is only one layer. Stack a card or points scheme only where the store allows it, and look at the coupon campaigns at Mark & Save and Retail Mart if you shop there often. Rawabi Market's Shafi Street branch has a fixed low-price zone, so it is worth a look for small household items. If you buy something faulty, Qatar's Consumer Protection Law lets you ask a business to refund, replace or repair at its own cost, according to a Gulf Times summary of the law.

Those who also buy appliances may want the electronics offers in Qatar hub, because several hypermarket chains and dedicated electronics shops advertise in the same weeks.

Questions shoppers actually ask

Google Suggest for Qatar shows the same few patterns: offers today, opening time, location and, for some names, a call to compare with another chain. Questions about the biggest hypermarket, 24-hour branches and the cheapest grocery store come up as well. The FAQ below answers them.

Smaller groups worth knowing

Dana hypermarket was founded in 2016 and lists five branches on its official site, including Salwa Road and Al Wakra. Panda Hypermarket opened on Al Khaleej Street in Msheireb in March 2019. Carry Fresh Hypermarket started at Umm Al Dome Street in Muaither in 2019. Each of these has its own leaflet cycle, so open the individual page for the current edition.
